Unusual Bird in New Zealand

Today for the first time in a long time I carried my camera with me on my walks and I was so glad that I did.
Here is me laboring away in the cold when this little bird came and landed almost next to me.  What surprised me was the range of colors.  Of a finch or sparrow variety - and quite possibly not a native New Zealand bird, I stood still for a sec and then remembered my trusty cannon.

Yellow wing feathers and a very distinct (although in the shadow) red part around its beak. Brilliant
Wonder what it is called and if you know - please let me know.
