Prevention of Cruelty to Teddy Bears [SPCTB]

Sunday, May 27, 2012 1
oldbearnews editor
The prevention of cruelty and misuse of comfort and stress relieving soft animals which look like the family of animals know as 'Bear'  and have the common name of Teddy Bears.  I belong to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Teddy Bears [SPCTB]!  It asks for the immediate dismissal of foster parents for cruelty and neglect of our beloved teddy bears [normally nonliving character which can and so will in any form be anthropomorphized into living, breathing, feeling individuals] if they mistreat one of our members (teddy-bears).
The rules are set out as follows:

1. Teddy Bears are not inanimate objects

2. Teddy Bears are to be cuddled and hugged as much as needed, but they are not to be used as pillows.

3. Teddy Bears have the right to as much bed space as they need. Any human sharing the bed with the Teddy Bear is to have any room that is left and must not in anyway force the Teddy Bear from its rightful place on the bed.

4. Teddy Bears shall always be given names. This name shall let the Teddy Bear hold its head up high at any picnics that it attends. Names such as Fluffy Wuffy, shall not be allowed.

5. Teddy Bears have the right to be dressed in suitable clothing and are not to be denigrated by the wearing of dolls' clothing.

6. Teddy Bears do not fly (without the aid of an airplane), unless by express permission of the Teddy Bear involved.

7. It is recommended that Teddy Bears should not be given any alcoholic drink. If at any time such drink is given to a Teddy Bear, then no responsibility will be taken for anything that happens after that. (See Rule 9 for cases where your Teddy Bear insists).

8. Teddy Bears are omnipotent and their word is final on all matters.

9. If you witness a Teddy Bear being abused then you are to report the matter to your nearest TBPO (Teddy Bear Protection Officer) who can be contacted through your local branch of the SPCTB (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Teddy Bears).

10. No abusing your Teddy Bears, another's teddy Bears, or homeless Teddy Bears in any way or form, whether physically, sexually, or neglectfully.

11. No posting rude comments towards ro about Teddy bears or photos of abused Teddy Bears or your comments will eb deleted and the Teddy bears will ban you.

12. Be entirely too philosophical for your own good. Eccentricities are highly admired.

13. Post any form of media that you wish as long as it doesn't harm, or show the harming for Teddy bears in any way, shape, form or manner.

14. Do not feed the Teddy Bears [They are already stuffed].

15. The diet of your bear is vital to his or her very existence. Teddy Bears should be allowed a choice of what they are fed, no matter how ridiculous that choice is. (See Rule 9).

If you do not follow the rules in full, then you may be risking the chance of your teddy bear leaving you and if he/she finds that any breaches of the rules have occurred then he/she will have no choice but to leave you and go to another home. As there are many families that have not had your good fortune and yearn for a Teddy Bear of their own, I am sure that he/she will have no problem. Be grateful you even have a teddy bear to love and cherish because others may not have that opportunity. If anybody wishes to register as a foster parent for a battered and abused Teddy Bear, or would like to own a teddy bear of your very own, then please contact us and, we will then carry out a full check into your suitability as a candidate, making sure no past teddy bear abuse is on your record. If nothing shows up, we will then send you your brand new teddy bear friend, free of charge.

Earth-shattering birthday

Sunday, September 19, 2010 0
oldbearnews editor yes well
see - it is tradition amongst our family to cook one special meal - as per birthday persons request for the celebrant.

My son - 'Dad - we havn't had a meatloaf for a while . . . . . . . '
Me - 'Does this constitute a official request???'
Son - 'Well you do make one mean lean meatloaf . . . . . '

Thus I had no choice - my late buddy teenager son requested a meatloaf in teenager babble- so we went out and bought  some stuff and next day I slaved in the kitchen for hours to create our usual earth-shattering birthday meal meatloaf!
I cannot possible give you a recipe - it changes - depending on what's in the larder - and that depends largely on the seasons and budget!! (and the mood of the chef!!) - but meat and mushroom and garlic and eggs and crumbs and urm - other stuff were in it - not to mention herbs and spices.

They say the Stig looks better - dunno . ....
It even turned out ok - and was by all accounts delicious enjoyed by all and the glasses of white urm - medicinal drinks - helped to temporarily forget the earth moving beneath our dining table.  It tasted great even on the next day when I polished the left overs off with a luncheon sandwich!!

the gang of 8 = spot the baby . . .
Well 'li'l ol Smilie - you asked why I needed the date - see image besides. . . .
The images will be printed and cut and glued on the inside of the lid.  I am sure you can figure out the rest.

As far as the inscription is concerned we agreed for that to be urm - yeah I can spill the beans - after all its in code and you will have trouble de-ciphering this - it reads (or will read once I got it engraved)  'AITSSS'

Further we decided to have 8 little stumpy glasses and we will have them sandblasted - each a very unique glass!!
And so the race is on . . . in a manner speaking. . .

(eeeek just realized this is not the up-to-date image - haven't corrected smilies date - mwahaaaaaa - begs for forgiveness . . . . )

urm - txt england -- ok the pre dial nr is . . . . . 4 somethin
You would not belief it - it is a really nice coffin and yes = we got several very strange looks by some people in the pub (but hey what else is new??? - after all you are looking at the blokes who still own a fairy outfit!!!)
Yet it is a very awkward box to carry.  Can't wait for the rustic handles to be mounted - then 2 of us can carry it properly next time!!!

getting there . . . . .   is half the fun
There is a nice color.  As you can see, we opted for NOT a creamy or pearly white lining- simply for the reason that we could never be innocent or pure - well - perhaps pure in our mischievous intents!! but innocent - cmon, really

Only question remains is ---- how do we spring Smilie from her majesties hospitality and get her to join us in our ventures????  Maybe I need to get some tips from Danny Ocean . . . .

Meeh - On occasions I have been told I got a morbid sense of humor.  Can't think of why.  However I have got a set of friends who on occasion get me into trouble (and yes - I willingly play along - as it is always good clean fun).
A wee while ago we decided to have a special bottle of - urm - well - white drink of something rather and it needed a appropriate method of taking to camp or outings.  We agreed that we are allowed to drink from it ONLY ever if one of our friends crocks, well naturally, it lends itself to a coffin.  The remaining questions centered then around -- how large, timber or paper, handles or not, and a few others.  Thanks to a friend we finally got a working model.

However Vinnie was  N O T overly impressed with his dad when he suggested to try it out for size - (to see if the dimensions worked of course - no other hidden agenda), and it took a while and a lot of gentle persuasion for Vinny to agree and pose.  Suffice to say --  he wasn't a very happy chappie.

'Just testing dad - right?!?!?!?!'
'Yes son - of course!!'

'See ample space , plenty of leg room, this should do for your plans . . . . '

'Don't even think about making this my bed - NOW get me out of here, pronto please.'
'Yes son - hang a sec . . . . .'

Hmmmm  what to put on the copper plague???   Something that accurately represents the words - oooops nearly gave the secret away
Triple S???

Ah well - maybe we need a secret meeting again soon . . .  . . . . .

Two (teddybear) cubs play chess

Sunday, January 24, 2010 0

I nearly fell of the chair the other day. I got home from work and there where my two boys playing a game of chess. Last time that happened was urm - at least a decade ago - if not two. hmmm actually - such are the personalities that it ended up a bit of a slaughter - rather then an even match.
Now it was such a minties moment I just had to take some photos to commemorate the event - only to be told in very certain terms - "don't you dear". Sigh - loving father I am - listen I do.
So I found these - enjoy

Reading Teddybear

Monday, January 11, 2010 1
Reading Teddybearuhu - *me rubs bleary eyes*
I must be on holiday - I know 'cause I have time to read.

I have so far read 5504 pages of Tom Clancy (6) books since 24 Dec and another 3932 to go - EXCEPT my slow reading son is now holding up the works!! Yikes.

Somehow I don't think I am going to get them all finished before I head back to work. 2 more holidays left . . . . . . .
especially if I can't gang press my own book of my son - he's sorta stuck on page 200 something. . . .

Scouts camping on a wet and rainy weekend

Monday, November 30, 2009 0
Santa Claus BearWell - s'pose I should be thankful for some small mercies - like a waterproof tent. We took some scouts out camping and the weekend started fine but then it became a wet and rainy weekend. - (I unpacked my suitcase and found gear I had taken there, but not worn, quite DAMP - so yeah). Just as well that I took James and not Brodie (who has a reputation for going camping only in gumboots!!!)
Anyhow the youth came together from our Scout Zone and about 100 youth bunked down for the weekend. They had a ball. From our Group only 4 where brave enough to face the two madcap leaders and a camping experience away. I have to say - well done guys -you survived with flying colors. Seeing that what happens on camp stays on camp - I can't tell you some of the most funny stories / jokes we had - suffice to say - competition giggles has - more to work on her humor she needs.
Pics below - enjoy

setting up campLashing together the basic frame for the platformSo after we set up the campsite, we build the first part of the framework for the afternoon wide game - some water battle that needed a observation tower - a derrick for more supplies, a flag pole and urm stores. The platform also doubled as a local prison and while water-boarding was no longer an option some "prisoners" did get a free shower. - urm we also placed ONE sticky plaster in the middle of the floor and told scouts that if they fall down they have to aim for the sticky plaster - if they miss - they dont get to use that for whatever damage they would have done to themselves!! Suffice to say - they all decided to give that part a miss.

Scouts on top of the platformnever mind the carsLOL - never mind the cars - the scouts did a good job themselves running round at speed!!

Enjoying Papabear's special soup for lunchWay better then a McDonalds BurgerAfter a half day of running round in cold and drizzly weather - my cooked lunch was described as "Da Bomb" and "Papabears Super special" I have to admit - it was rather tasy and went down well. Nothing left over here!! Maybe - just maybe here is a new burger waiting for McDonalds to be "discovered"?? I am sure it would be a great hit!!

Scout washing the dishesMothers take NOTE - They DO KNOW how to wash up - so its up to you to utilize their newly acquired skill at home!!

CampfireThe day finished with a camp fire and sing songs and stories and jokes - a good time to show of your camp blanket and all your badges and dear I say it - some warmth!!

Sadly Campfires are a endangerd species in Canterbury - with almost year round fire bans in force, the youth today no longer get to learn the skill in how to light fires / cook safely on fires and just basic fire safety eticette. Shame really because it is becoming a lost art very soon . . . .

The next day saw all the scouts competing in some games - we had a very intense wheelbarrow race (where listen and following instructions came at a premium) to the old gum boot toss/ tow a tractor / set up a electric fence (hehehe sadly no juice running through the fence - shame )/ to see how many hits it takes to pound in a 4 inch nail and how long it takes to cut a piece of a 2x4 / to tossing over a high rope a decent hay bale!

Camp has finished with a traditional Scouts own and flag down.

Scouts ownFlag break

Time to pack up and head back home - and a WARM shower and my very own comfy bed!
Oh and I got to watch the last 40 min of rugby before I crashed in bed- seems the All Blacks have re-discovered a way of winning - playing a decently game - so all in all a great weekend.

:)
