Well, as we said before - It can snow here any time of the year! Spoke to a guide on the Milford Track and he said he had 15 years - out of 20  - White Christmas's on the top of the Pass!!!   -  If you walked it - you know what I am talking about!!!

Anyhow - seems we might get a bit cold and wet these few days coming up!!!

And yes - that is MINUS 61C in Antarctica - in SPRING!!!!

Spoke to my wife who said she can vividly remember a day near Christmas mid 1970's when snow fell (but not settle) in Christchurch. So yeah - given the proximity to Antarctica AND the Pacific - it can - at any given day - happen!! For my European folks - Dec is our summer month . . . . meanwhile 5/10/2022 - snow is falling in parts of South Island today!!!

From my Sister-in-law: ---> snip ---> I vaguely remember it snowing one Christmas – Dad was driving a couple of men home from the Durham St Christmas Dinner, and it was snowing/sleeting, so they sang "I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas"!
